My Training Journey

From the very beginning of his orthopaedic training, Dr. Arpit C Dave was drawn to the precision and patient-friendly nature of minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. After completing his MBBS in 2007 from MGM Medical College and subsequently his D Ortho and DNB Orthopaedics from Lokmanya Hospital, Pune in 2010, he pursued advanced international fellowships that took him across Europe — each one deepening his surgical expertise and broadening his clinical perspective.

Italy
Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship - Italy

In 2011, Dr. Dave was selected for a prestigious Fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgeries under Professor Giuseppe Porcellini at Ospedale De Cervesi, Cattolica, Italy — an ESSKA-affiliated centre that serves as a tertiary referral hub for shoulder injuries across the entire region. The centre treated both elite sportspersons and patients with age-related shoulder conditions, attracting referrals from across Italy including, notably, patients from the Moto GP circuit.

Over six months, Dr. Dave attended approximately 700 surgeries, gaining hands-on experience in shoulder arthroscopies, shoulder replacements, tendon transfers, and the Latarjet procedure. This fellowship gave him a strong clinical foundation in complex shoulder pathologies and the surgical confidence that comes from working in one of Europe’s most active shoulder surgery centres.

Spain
Sports Surgeries Fellowship

Following Italy, Dr. Dave pursued a Fellowship in Sports Surgeries under Dr. Ramon Cugat at Hospital Quiron, Barcelona — one of Europe’s most respected sports medicine institutions. The centre served as the official medical facility for the Catalunya Football Association and FC Barcelona, providing Dr. Dave with direct exposure to the treatment of high-performance athletes and elite sports injuries.

During this fellowship, he gained expertise in a wide range of sports injury management techniques, including the use of PRGF (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors) alongside advanced sports arthroscopy procedures. This experience fundamentally shaped his understanding of how to treat active patients who demand not just recovery but a full return to performance.

Arthroscopy Fellowship

Later in 2012, Dr. Dave was invited for a Fellowship under Dr. Philippe Hardy at Hospital Ambroise Pare, Paris — a centre situated adjacent to the iconic Roland Garros stadium, home of the French Open. Under Dr. Hardy, Dr. Dave refined the clinical and surgical nuances of running a high-quality sports surgery practice, gaining insight into the finer details of arthroscopic technique and patient management at the highest level.

Cartilage Preservation

Also in 2012, Dr. Dave was invited to visit Dr. Peter Verdonk at the University Hospital, Ghent, Belgium. This short but impactful visit focused on cartilage preservation surgeries — an area of orthopaedics that requires both technical precision and long-term strategic thinking. The experience gave Dr. Dave a deeper appreciation for joint preservation as a treatment philosophy, one that continues to guide his practice today.

My Work Experience

Dr. Arpit C Dave has been practising as a freelancing Arthroscopic Surgeon in Mumbai since returning to India in 2012, building a strong reputation for surgical precision and patient-centred care.

He has performed over 6000 surgeries and earned the trust of 100+ orthopaedic surgeons across Mumbai who regularly refer patients to him for arthroscopic procedures.

Served as Honorary Orthopaedic Surgeon at Babasaheb Ambedkar Municipal Hospital from 2015 to 2019, treating a diverse patient population and developing expertise across all orthopaedic care areas.

Committed to training the next generation of arthroscopic surgeons through an active Fellowship Programme.

Regularly participates as faculty at orthopaedic workshops and conferences, sharing clinical experience and delivering talks to specialist colleagues across the country.
